Mind-Blowing 01 - 13 Year Old Builds A Nuclear Reactor

According to Dictionary.com, the word mindblowing or mind-blowing:-

mind-blow·ing

  [mahynd-bloh-ing]
adjective Slang.
1.
overwhelming; astounding: Spending a week in the jungle was a mind-blowing experience.
2.
producing a hallucinogenic effect: a mind-blowing drug.

Today I thought I'd start by writing a more structure approach to some topics, news or events. These would be things that I find "Mindblowing" and I'll be doing this like a regular topic in this blog.

So first off, I'd like to start with the name Jamie Edwards. You might want to remember that name. He's 13 years old.

Yesterday, Jamie Edwards, an English 13 year old, had successfully built a nuclear reactor for a science project. According to his blog, the reactor had achieved fusion yesterday at 11:30 am. Mind-blowing!

What the heck was I doing when I was 13 years old?

Here's how a 13 year old nuclear scientist looks like in his blog.

With his achievement, Jamie becomes the youngest person to build a nuclear reactor and achieve fusion. His project trumps, Taylor Wilson, another young scientist from the US, who had done a similar result, producing nuclear fusion at 14 years old in 2008. According to the news reports, the inspiration for Jamie came from the story of the young Americans achievement. I guess this is what you could say is awe-inspiring, a young scientist achievement to spur another younger scientist!

I got to commend the school, Penwortham Priory Academy, and the headmaster, Mr. Jim Hourigan, who had initially funded the daring science project. It's really great to know that there are institutions that are willing to support and motivate young teenagers to pursue their dreams, even when there is an obvious question whether the experiment could blow up the school!

Hopefully this achievement by Jamie Edwards, Taylor Wilson and other young scientists will continue to inspire other young minds to pursue their dreams, not just in scientific fields, but also in other fields that could bring much positive change in the world.
